Barack Obama eased to victory in Louisiana, Nebraska and Washington state to put him just ahead in the delegate count
Barack Obama is now nearly neck and neck with Hillary Clinton in the delegates count, now trailing by just 23. Yesterday Obama won Washington by 37%, Nebraska by 36% and Louisiana by 21% in three victories that were largely expected. The wins will no doubt maintain the momentum that the Obama campaign has gradually been building, and with more wins expected over the course of the next week it is the Clinton camp that will be the more worried.
Obama is now [1.64] favourite to win the Democratic nomination, with Hillary Clinton out to [2.6], the biggest price she has been since the madness of the Iowa and New Hampshire contests at the beginning of January.
For the Republicans, Mike Huckabee won Kansas by a whopping 36%, while the former Arkansas Governor also won Louisiana by a more narrow margin of 43% to John McCain's 42%. Huckabee still trails McCain in the delegate count by almost 500 delegates, but his credentials to be the Republican Vice Presidential candidate are growing stronger by the day. Huckabee is currently [2.6] to be the Republican VP, [6.6] to actually be the next VP and [17.0] to win the party's nomination overall.
With another big week of primaries and caucuses for both parties be sure to check back for all the latest news and outlook on Monday.
