Blood and Gore in the Obama/Clinton battle could see a return of the President that never was

Former Vice President Al Gore has seen a recent wave of support on the Betfair market to be the Democratic Nominee with more money coming in to back him over the last month.
With the contest between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton set to roll on, Betfair customers are becoming increasingly confident that Gore will be a significant player in this election. It is a similar story in Betfair's Next President market where the new champion of the environment is now trading as low as [34.0], a fact that will have one punter feeling pretty pleased after being matched at [900.0].
Additionally, Gore is the current favourite among Betfair punters to re-enter politics in his former role of Vice President at [6.0].
Despite losing out to George W Bush in the 2000 Presidential Race, Gore is being touted as the man who has the ability to unite the party and the experience to beat John McCain in November. If Obama, with the delegates he has amassed in the contest so far, agreed to such a compromise then the possibility of a Gore-Obama ticket is suddenly not so remote. The same could be said of Gore-Clinton, in what would be a remarkable switching of names on the 1992 and 1996 tickets.
An article in TIME magazine this week asked, 'Is Al Gore the Answer?', and Betfair punters appear to be latching onto the fact that this could be a real possibility. It would be an unprecedented move but, with seemingly no outcome in sight in the battle between Obama and Clinton, maybe this is the smartest bet of this or any other Presidential race.
