"The Tories’ lead at 13 points, up to 41 percent with Labour on 28 percent, and Betfair punters have reacted accordingly."
Brown may have survived latest coup attempt but the Betfair markets suggest his days in No.10 are numbered.
The Conservatives are now just [1.4] to secure an overall majority at the next General Election, in from [1.5] before last week's Hoon-Hewitt show, according to punters on Betfair.
Gordon Brown may have survived that latest plot to oust him, but a poll released in today's Times newspaper shows the Tories' lead at 13 points, up to 41 percent with Labour on 28 percent, and Betfair punters have reacted accordingly.
That poll did, however, show some tightening in the race, with the number of people predicting a Hung Parliament increasing. There has been no such change amongst Betfair customers though, with the odds on no overall majority remaining at [4.0], as they were at the start of December.
Betfair spokesman Michael Robb said: "The only thing Gordon Brown is favourite for is to leave office between April and June 2010. Across all other political markets David Cameron's Conservatives are firmly in the driving seat."
