As the Nominations for the 82nd Academy awards are announced punters should peruse the lists to work out who might be worth backing in 2010...

Betting on Betfair is never more glamourous than when the annual Oscars show roles on to the red carpet.

Get it right and you could be Up in the Air, get it wrong and you'll feel like an Inglorious Basterd. Either way, the Oscars are great fun to bet on.

Last year punters won big on the likes of Slumdog Millionaire and The Reader. This time it's all about James Cameron's ground-breaking, mesmerising epic Avatar and Kathryn Bigelow's compelling Iraq war drama the Hurt Locker.

And to add to the drama the two directors used to be married.

Cameron has already pipped Bigelow at the Golden Globes but can she turn the tables on her ex-husband when the 82nd Oscars are announced in Los Angeles on Sunday March 7?
