The latest series Celebrity Big Brother is about to finish and Verne is the hot favourite to win. Dan fitch fills you in on the latest movements in the house...
The final show before the final showdown kicked off with Coolio in the diary room. The rapper said he hoped that either Verne or La Toya would win and went on to talk about how much he admired Miss Jackson.
Coolio hoped that he would eventually meet some of the other Jacksons. Well, if you keep going on reality shows, you're bound to bump into one of them eventually. The rapper also revealed that he used to pretend to be Tito as a kid. I presume he was talking about La Toya's brother, rather than the former dictator of Yugoslavia. Coolio is [17.0] to win.
Out in the house, the talk was also about the Jackson family. By that, I obviously mean Michael. Verne let slip that he'd once been invited to Neverland, but decided not to go. Which is a shame, as the show would have been even juicier if one of the housemates had previously filed a lawsuit against another one's brother.
The housemates were given a task where they had to accept dares. They had to volunteer in turn, and if they accepted the dare and saw it through they'd win a token. If they turned it down or failed the task, they would be sent to prison.
Terry was the first person up, which was only proper considering the task was ripped off from The Word. He was dared to lick the armpit of a fat man who'd been exercising, so he pretended it was Dani Behr and gave the hairy pit some tongue. Terry is the second favourite at [5.6].
Whilst we know that Terry is being paid the best part of a hundred grand to indulge in such silly shenanigans, you have to wonder what the fat bloke having his armpit licked was being paid. Enough to pay off his fees from RADA I hope.
La Toya had to lick anchovy paste off the window. As she is incredibly naïve for a 52-year-old woman, La Toya didn't really get the sexual connotations that came with licking off the gentlemen's relish. She even inadvertently got involved with some mucky chat about it being "thick and salty".
Coolio was dared to sit in a bath of what was described as 'gross stuff' for a minute, during which he had to fully submerge his head at least once. Dressed in flippers and a Victorian bathing costume, Coolio reluctantly entered the bath and after a lot of moaning, stuck his head in.
What he didn't know was the bath was actually just filled with vegetable soup, though you'd have thought he'd have realised, considering that he's got a cookbook coming out.
Verne was given the task of blowing up a balloon until it popped. At about the time when the balloon was bigger than his actual body, I started to fear that he might float off. Luckily, it eventually popped and another token was won.
Ulrika had to lick a fish's eyeball, which must have been pretty easy for someone who was able to tolerate having sex with Sven. The last female in the house is [16.5] to win.
The only failure was Tommy, who had to down three shots of a slushy ice drink in a minute. Brain freeze got the better of him and he was put behind bars, where he probably felt more at home than in the house.
Before she was evicted, La Toya spoke about her shyness and how difficult it was for her to leave her bedroom each morning and spend time with the housemates. I bet their families will feel the same come Saturday morning.
As if we were ever in any doubt as to whom Channel 4 want to win the show, then it was made clear when the last section of the last show, before the final, was almost entirely devoted to Verne.
Verne spoke movingly about how he strove to be independent and tried to be the same as everyone else. There clearly are some advantages to his condition though, as Verne proved when he spent a good half hour chasing Coolio around with his mobility cart. Verne is the favourite at [1.48].
As for me, I'd really like Coolio to win. He's been the most entertaining housemate by a mile. However, I'm not so naïve to think that we're going to see two black guys get crowned after winning a popular vote, in the space of one week. Coolio will just have to be content to be Verne's running mate.
