Celebrity Big Brother 2009: Latoya shortens in the betting

Dan "The Betting Man" Fitch talks us through the latest developments in the Celebrity Big Brother house.

As bad investments go, this one could rival the mistakes that saw Lehman Brothers go bust. I'm talking of course about the rumoured £175,000 that was paid to Ulrika Jonsson to enter the Celebrity Big Brother House.

Ulrika is now up for eviction and were she to leave the house later this week, her brief Big Brother experience could even rival her affair with Sven, in terms of pound notes earned per minute of having to degrade herself.

The producers only have themselves to blame. Last night's show saw them engineer a task where the housemates had to rank themselves in order of importance for the end of show credits.

Tommy Sheridan showed his socialist roots by suggesting that the ranking should be determined on alphabetical order alone. As Head of House, Terry Christian struggled to put the housemates in order. This was in no doubt due to the difficulty of remembering the names of his fellow Z-listers, rather than not knowing his alphabet, but Terry was still continually mocked by Ulrika.

This was a bad move for the Swede, as Terry was then asked to nominate for eviction, the housemate who had shown the biggest ego. Understandably, he just chose the housemate who has taken a clear and vocal dislike to him.

Ulrika is now a massive [38.0] to win. Only Tommy Sheridan, priced at [42.0], is a bigger outsider. Sheridan, despite having been quite congenial in the house, still has that politician's knack of coming across as completely untrustworthy.

Terry had to film his fellow housemates for the end of show credits. Ben Adams name came first alphabetically, so he was given the 'Starring' credit. Mutya later bitched that it was wrong for Ben to be the star, as he hadn't said a single thing all day.

I'd have agreed with Mutya, if it wasn't for the fact that this bit of bitching was the first time I'd heard her speak in three episodes. Still, Ben did look uncomfortable when being filmed, probably because it was the first time he'd had a camera pointing at him since the filming of the video for 'Make it Good' (a number 55 hit for A1, in the Swedish charts).

Like Mutya, everyone has cottoned onto the fact that Ben is your archetypal boy-band member on a reality show. He's nice enough, but ultimately quite dull. Adams' price has drifted out to [9.6], though that's still a lot shorter than the price for hideously tattooed Mutya at [32.0].

Coolio further endeared himself to the public, if not his housemates, when he volunteered to wash his nuts in the sink, in lieu of using hot water for a shower. Coolio is now the [7.2] second favourite behind Vern at [2.96].

Coolio's loud personality may be grating on his fellow celebrities. Having heard that Coolio had suffered a nightmare, Terry [8.2] quipped: "Probably having nightmares about the sales of his last album". This would have been quite funny, if not for the fact that I had just scribbled down the same joke.

It was another good show for La Toya, who bizarrely seemed much more relaxed when regaling everyone with her tales of domestic abuse. La Toya is now down to [14.0] in the betting.

I'm still not sure about Tina Malone at [20.0]. She's loud, Scouse and funny, but will that endear her to the public? After all, you never see Jimmy Tarbuck on TV these days.

Tina is permanently welded to the ashtray area, in which the housemates may smoke. The quote of the show came from Malone, who when chatting to La Toya in the ashtray, said of Michael Jackson: "He's a genius, going on legend. Like me".

Yes, just like you Tina. Only without the spell in Brookside on his resume.
