Celebrity Big Brother 2009 Betting: Verne deservedly dominating the "Blokewatch"

"Mystical" Mike Norman's soothsaying powers have been recruited to talk us through the chances of the different male contestants on Celebrity Big Brother. Here goes...

What's this? Over a day in the Celebrity Big Brother house and nobody is arguing, fighting or bitching! Just five girls, four and a quarter males, peace, harmony, and friendship all round. It'll never last.... not with these men in the house.

Verne Troyer (Top Male [1.91], Winner [3.0])

My young daughter wants one! "He's not a toy", I told her, "That's a 40-year-old grown man" - well... sort of!

Troyer is best known for playing the character of Mini-Me in the Austin Powers Movies, a role that he flourished in because of the respect he held for his more illustrious co-stars - he has always looked up to them!

Inside the Big Brother house it's going to be difficult for the other celebs not to patronise Verne - Coolio has already been seen patting him on the head, whilst the girls in the house just look at him and go "Awww". He is loveable and cute (he says patronisingly) and will be extremely popular with the viewers, especially if his 'evil plan' to win the show is as entertaining as it promises to be. He is definitely the one to beat.

'Night Cam' has shown Verne to roll around in bed quite a lot. I just hope he doesn't fall out though - the affect could be like me doing a bungee jump without the elastic!

Coolio (TM [3.5], W [8.0])

American rapper Coolio is no stranger to 'celebrity' programmes, having previously appeared on Celebrity Fear Factor, Celebrity Bootcamp and the Celebrity Paranormal Project. Rumour has it that he is already being lined up for the next series of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, and a release of Gangsta's Jungle is expected as a follow up to his most famous hit Gangsta's Paradise.

So far in the BB house he has been fun and entertaining, teaching some housemates the meaning of such words like dawg and y'all. I get the impression that he is a very respectful man and will shy away from any confrontation with the other celebrities.

He was less than impressed when Big Brother failed to deliver chicken and peanut butter however, and this might be the way producers try to rile him - after all, a big man needs food. If Coolio goes hungry, then don't be surprised to see Verne covered in Big Brother Jam and thrust between two slices of stale bread.

Ben Adams (TM [5.3], W [8.2])

Former a1 boyband member Ben is the male totty in the house and will no doubt have a huge following amongst the female viewers. He appears very friendly and polite, but ultimately very boring and I can't see him winning.

I'm not quite sure what he is going to bring to the show other than endless stories of how he now writes songs for the likes of Alexandra Burke (yes, we know you do Ben). Perhaps man-eater Ulrika Johnson might fancy her chances of getting her claws into him (if she fails with Coolio, Terry, Tommy and Verne that is) so that could be interesting, especially if BB provide the not-so-shy blonde with plenty of alcohol.

Terry Christian (TM [5.5], W [7.6])

Mancunian Terry was the last man to enter the house, and as a result was the last to 'bagsy' a bed, which meant he was automatically elected as the head of the house. He is perhaps most famous for presenting the controversial Channel 4 show The Word alongside Dani Behr (you'd never catch her appearing on a reality TV show to earn a few bob) though he has had a successful career spanning more than 25 years, especially in radio.

Terry will give everyone a chance to be friends, but is also likely to get involved in every argument going such is his outspoken nature. A clash with Tommy Sheridan at some stage is almost inevitable - and has the prospects of being TV gold.

I instantly had Christian down as a potential winner as he is well liked, popular, and won't be scared to say what he truly feels. However, as in the non celebrity version of Big Brother, being head of house can prove a huge hindrance. He is immune from the first eviction, but depending on how he treats the people he has power over in the next few days will ultimately decide his fate.

Tommy Sheridan (TM [15.5], W [50.0])

I hope Sheridan gets a long enough stay in the house to show his true colours - an argumentative... (any expletive you like)! Very few people know him as a celebrity, but in politics he is a controversial and powerful figure, co-forming the Scottish political party Solidarity.

On entering the house he got many stares that all but said, "Who is he?" Only Terry Christian seemed to know him, but his muttered words of, "Or you're errrmmm, that errrmm...." was Christian's polite way of saying, "I know you, but I don't like you".

To be fair Sheridan has been quite reserved so far, though he has on at least one occasion asked when the chaos will descend. That to me was a true sign that he is finding things too calm at the moment and that he is itching to be at the forefront of any confrontations. He could well bully the girls and some of the weaker boys, but he will have his work cut out trying to gain power over Coolio and Terry, and thus his stay will be short-lived.
