Feizal's thoughts: Modest Mario has it all to do if he's to stay in the house

Feizal updates us on the latest developments in the house over the last week that included Alexandra getting the boot, a new arrival and Mario doing his best to annoy everyone

Week three in the Big Brother house has been one of significant upheaval and, promisingly, it appears that now is the point from which events will really kick on. With the bad apple purged, a sense of emancipation has visibly uplifted the general mood of the group but, typically, simmering tensions remain.

Inevitably, Alexandra was removed from the house by Big Brother midweek on the grounds of 'unacceptable behaviour' and frankly one wonders why it took so long and, more so, quite what she was doing there in the first place. Disappointingly, the grossly offensive South Londoner was spared certain eviction and a much-deserved walk of shame on Friday night, having traded as low as [1.07] to go before her enforced departure.

Once again, the volatile eviction market was turned on its head as a consequence, with Mario plunging from a high of [10.0] to a low of [1.88]. Now available at [2.7], Mr Modest is favourite to be the 2nd evictee, though has an extra week to work his flagging charms on the house and public alike. Emerging as a Walter Mitty type character, apparently there's nothing Mario hasn't done in life or isn't capable of doing - except it seems, impressing anyone other than his partner Lisa or his alleged fan club. With even adopted pet Mikey ([13.0] to win) slightly distancing himself from his master, the Italian imposter is short of allies in the house, but something suggests that he's slippery enough (literally) to evade the boot for now.

Instead, it's been the copper-tinged Rex who has done most to alienate himself this week. With his best Gordon Ramsay impression failing to win people over, Rex's domineering exploits in the kitchen have left a sour taste in the mouth for some and his incompetence with the shopping budget had a few with a certain 'F Word' on the tip of their tongue. The sporadically well-spoken chef is [19.0] to go next Friday but could become increasingly shorter unless he tones down his pretentious act.

The other notable story of the week has been the ongoing 'Will they? Won't they?' love saga between Jennifer and Dale (both [55.0] to win). The pair have been coalescing at snail-pace but adding to drab Dale's frustration on Friday night was the entrance of Alexandra's replacement. Cruelly, BB saw fit to throw in a Dale v2 - this one with a more striking look, a finer chiseled physique and a greater self-confidence. As personal trainer and property developer Stuart strode through the door on Friday night, Geordie Jen's jaw hit the ground like an atom bomb and she spent the next few minutes salivating in an eyes-wide-open gaze as she mentally unwrapped her shiny new toy. The contrast with Dale's look of horror and despondence could not have been more vivid.

However, it would later be Sylvia ([3.75] to be evicted) who was the first to sink her claws into the new arrival, first bathing with and then jumping into bed with Stuart ([42.0] to win), who appeared unmoved by her desperate attempts to woo him. This potential square of despair could provide for some interesting moments to come with, perhaps, all not what it appears to be.

Elsewhere, Kathreya and Rachel are openly engaged in a contest to see who can be the nicest housemate to all the people, all the time. The former is surging ahead on points and remains overall favourite to win at a very short [2.6], with the latter drifting steadily out to [29.0]. Bitchy campster Dennis ([8.0] to be evicted) can't work out who he wants to join forces with so is willfully sniping behind everyone's back, while the disturbingly 'normal' Luke and Rebecca ([6.4] and [26.0] to win respectively) pleasantly bide their time.

Quote Of The Week: "The bores/Boers are taking over" - Dennis leaves us unsure as to whether the less extrovert members of the house are ganging up on him or there's been an invasion of Dutch-speaking farmers from South Africa.
