Big Brother Betting: The fallout from this week's task

"Mystical" Mike Norman tells us how the house has reacted to Alexandra's exit and the fallout from this week's task and shopping budget.

Cleaning, music, painting, sculpting and a Japan theme were all subjected to a task last week, but it's the removal of Alexandra from the house that hit the headlines.

The tasks went fine with even Alex raising a smile as she repeatedly sang 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' in the karaoke room. But as always with the fiery Accounts Executive, her tone soon turned aggressive, "I've lost all respect for you", she shouted, "You are a disgrace, do you hear me, a disgrace" - and all this was just to the karaoke machine before she eventually threatened to have it blown up once she left the house.

After successfully completing the Japanorma task the housemates were given a luxury shopping budget to spend, but this far from made the group a happy group. Mario demanded that the food list be done sensibly after 14 tonnes of potatoes were left over from the previous week's shopping. Rex disagreed, and totally oblivious to other people's requests, he promptly set about listing all the herbs and spices he would need to cook the week's meals.

The extent of Rex's debacle was only realised when the shopping arrived. Mohamed was left without Halal meat, the girls had missed out on chocolate, Rachel had no grapes, and poor Mikey had to do without his one addiction, dark chocolate, so instead decided to try and sleep for the rest of the week. However, one bit of good news for Rex did come from Kathreya, who said he was a lovely man after the shopping contained a cookie the size of Mario's head for her to enjoy.

Rex is now certain to cop a few nominations from housemates and anyone who got matched at [1000] for him in the '2nd Eviction' market must now be sat nervous. He was trading at just [11.5] before the market was suspended, pending the results of Monday's nominations.

In the 'Big Brother Winner' market Kat has hardened to [2.62] as she continues to upset no one, but at these odds, I'd be a layer not a player. Yes she is sweet, fun and friendly, but the whole cookie thing is wearing a bit thin now and frankly it's getting a bit boring seeing her pat everyone on the back. Michael is out to [13.5] after his comedy seems to have been replaced by a moaning Pauline Fowler like spirit, while Rex did himself no favours last week and is now available at [43] to back.

The one person I do feel sorry for is Mohamed - at least the guy has something genuine to whinge about. He tries his hardest in the tasks but gets little thanks, he has his one food request ignored, he got berated by Alex for enjoying his birthday party, and he had his hair turned into a style resembling a mad scientist - yet he got criticised by the girls for constantly moaning. He is available at [10] to be top male, or at [28] to win the show outright.

One significant observation from last week was the formation of a few distinct groups. Lisa, Mario, Rachel, Mikey and Kat are the adult group that talk sense, while Sylvia the snake, Dull Dale, Rowdy Rebecca, Dreary Dennis and Jealous Jennifer are the child like group that steal and hide food, pillow fight, backstab each other, cry a lot and generally annoy. Unfortunately, as the groups are balanced this doesn't really help in the eviction market prior to nominations being known as members of each group are just as likely to nominate members form the opposing group. It will be interesting to see how they get on in the tasks though.

Luke isn't part of any group, he just gets on with everyone and is fast becoming the funniest person in the house. His diary room rants are not to be missed and his 'will he/won't he' fall for Rebecca saga is keeping everyone intrigued. At [6] he is definitely my idea of the winner at this stage while Rebecca could be worth a bet at [6.6] in the 'Top Female' market if we take Kat out of the equation.

And finally to new housemate Stuart ([42] to win) who had to endure sitting semi-naked as part of his first task - though from what I've seen he has never been fully clothed since his arrival. He is being stalked by Sylvia and admired by Lisa while Jenny says, "He isn't my type". He'll kiss a few girls, cause arguments between the lads, get evicted and never be seen again. It's almost impossible to win Big Brother as a late arrival (Brian apart) - coming in as Mr Vain isn't the way to go about it.
