Two of the leading contenders - Alex and Harry

"Harry is probably a little bit too posh to win the thing - in the interest of fair play, viewers would be reticent to hand over 100 grand to someone who'd probably just add it to the pile (especially in the BIGGEST RECESSION EVER) - but he could make for a very interesting punt in the top three market."

The BB producers have played the Halloween card - about two weeks early - as they desperately grasp for ideas to keep the action entertaining, and it could lead to carnage in the markets, says Eliot Pollak

The below is not a joke, although if you haven't been keeping up with events in the Big Brother house (and there are fewer reasons each week that passes why you should), you'd be forgiven for thinking it was.

Thanks to BB's horsing around, Friday night's eviction is near impossible to call. Anton and Jay were up - Anton a dead cert to go - and then out came the curve ball. The pair have been removed from the house, dressed up as ghosts set to "haunt" the other inmates, and there may yet be a different set of housemates going head-to-head in a bid to avoid talking to the increasingly awkward Brian Dowling.

Yes, ghosts. And haunting. It isn't even Halloween yet. Grow up, producers!

A worst-case scenario for the viewers and the bookies would be to find the pair's natural enemies, lovebirds Aaron and Faye, up for the chop. It would cause an almighty emotional eruption, and a hunch suggests that Faye would be the one to go.

A more deserving loser would be Faye's elder sister Jemma - a girl whose only highlight came when she was asked what she and Jay had in common. "We're both charismatic," she droned. She's either massively deluded, or a magnificent deadpan comic. The jury is still out. Incidentally, for those who spotted Jay in that abhorrent Jordan programme on Living this week, a) well done but b) really get out more.

At the other end of the spectrum, Alex appears to be running away with it, peaking earlier in the week at [1.61], before dropping down to around the [1.9] mark. She's kindly and a bit thick, which always goes down terrifically well with this audience. She could possibly be outdone by the "vote to save" rule, however so it's worth keeping an eye on Aaron at [5.7], and, better still, Harry at a generous [13.0].

Yet Harry is probably a little bit too posh to win the thing - in the interest of fair play, viewers would be reticent to hand over 100 grand to someone who'd probably just add it to the pile (especially in the BIGGEST RECESSION EVER) - but he could make for a very interesting punt in the top three market at [1.9] or even the Top Male market at [3.3].
