The top end of the Big Brother ladder is starting to wobble, and almost all of the favourites are suffering - thank goodness for that! All the latest from Chicken Dinner on the winner market.
The weekend proved a tough time for the favourite Kathreya ([4.0] to win on Betfair), as numerous members of the inner community finally tired of her incessant singing and dancing. Particularly worn down by her hideously out-of-tune nursery rhymes were Luke and Lisa, who did their utmost to wipe the smile off her face. In the long term, this could benefit Kat, as the voters - although keen on cheerful quirky characters - demand a certain amount of depth, and by facing opposition in the house, she could find herself embarking on the all-important journey, and winning over sceptical fans who agree with Rebecca's mean summation that Kat is a "gimmick".
Also entertaining rotten weekends were Luke [7.8], Rachel [15.0] and Maysoon [44.0]. The two girls have evoked the wrath of pretty much everyone by being too kind. Only in the Big Brother house is humility seen as a devious survival technique, so to avoid nomination both will have to showcase some inner venom. Expect to see them snap and violently turn on the rest of the house. Or, indeed, not.
Luke, meanwhile, has gone into total meltdown since Bex emerged bouncingly back into the real world. While she probably spent the weekend exposing herself in various nightclubs, Luke sat in silent fury in the luxury bedroom, only ever opening his mouth to spread damnation on Mo's already-appalling reputation. He needs to be careful; his bitching is upsetting some of his allies, notably Dale and Stuart, and with his girlfriend gone he needs all of the friends he can get. He would be wise to stick to doing the funny stuff.
Languishing in the meaty part of the curve this weekend are Dale [17.0], Stuart [20.0], Sara [65.0] and Lisa [50.0] - all of whom have moved little way in any direction. As expected, by taking up the poisoned chalice of leadership Dale has slipped back down the ranks by a fraction, as did Darnell when he made a total hash of keeping everyone happy. Stuart, on the other hand, looks like he could benefit from a bit of respect and he is the new leader, having knocked back piping hot chilli peppers like they were wine gums. He seems popular with the others. Mohamed [90.0] is, as usual, enormously unpopular with everyone around him. Still, his hysterical reaction to the chilli-eating challenge was absolutely brilliant - particularly when he threw milk at his own face to calm himself down. Tremendous television.
Enjoying a surge up the rankings are Darnell [5.4], Rex [9.4] and Mikey [9.6]. All had fantastic weekends. Surviving eviction has added an extra coil to the spring in Darnell's step, although he should kick the habit of showering naked in the garden. That was just strange. Should he maintain his cheerful demeanour, he could easily be the man to beat. Mikey has also been showing signs of a more likeable generous nature. While Rex is fashioning himself as the man to love to hate. His nasty put downs have become almost pantomime in their meanness. He could be this year's Jason (remember him? he was the runner up in series five - he's pictured above).
Chicken dinner predicts: Darnell to win, Mohammed to go next
