Big Brother 10 Betting: Dark horse or clothes horse?

Siavash and Marcus in happier times.

Siavash and Marcus in happier times.

If Endemol are surprised that Channel 4 has confirmed that they are going to end the show, then perhaps they should take a look at the people they’ve ended up with in the final.

Either Marcus the Irrepressible Dark Horse, or Siavash the Clothes Horse will go this week and Dan 'The Betting Man' Fitch is on his high horse, regarding the housemates who have made it to the final week.

Once upon a time there were three pals named Freddie, Marcus and Siavash who were refreshingly different to the other inhabitants of the Big Brother house.

It looked like their bond would be enough to see off the threat of Team Lisa, but regrettably, it was not to be. Instead their heads were turned by femme fatales like Noirin and Bea. Freddie got the boot and now Marcus goes head to head with Siavash in this week's eviction vote.

Marcus is the [1.6] favourite to leave, with Siavash at [2.56], though the Irrepressible Dark Horse was a far shorter price to leave when he went up against Freddie.

The polls have it pretty much even and at the time of writing I think that it's too tight to call. Best to keep a close eye on the highlights shows up to and including Friday, because this one could go right to the wire.

Curiously, in the winners market, Siavash has come right in to [3.8], with Marcus drifting out to [7.0]. Whoever comes through this eviction, will surely become the new favourite to win the show.

The fact that Siavash is up for eviction at all, is pretty much his own fault. His refusal to nominate over the last few weeks has started to really grate on the housemates.

Chief amongst the dissenters has been Rodrigo, who curiously goes absolutely bonkers if anyone within the house tries to exert some authority over him, but will always toe the line if the order comes from a disembodied voice representing Big Brother.

When Siavash refused again to nominate this week, all hell broke loose, as Rodrigo, David and Charlie took the opportunity to exercise their debating skills, which consists entirely of shouting gibberish at the top of their voices.

Time will tell as to whether falling out with these idiots will work in Siavash's favour. I'm not sure quite why Siavash is so reluctant to nominate. In week 10 he didn't, but he did again in week 11, before not voting for the past two weeks.

It may be that Rodrigo, Charlie and company are right and the only reason that Siavash wants everyone to be up each week, are for reasons of self-preservation. Unfortunately the people putting forward this argument are just too stupid for me to side with them.

If Endemol are surprised that Channel 4 has confirmed that they are going to end the show, then perhaps they should take a look at the people they've ended up with in the final.

The rules of the show are changed at the drop of a hat. Witness how when everyone was up for eviction, Big Brother made it a positive vote to get rid of Hira, when Lisa would have been a dead cert to go.

So why haven't they manipulated the rules to prevent the block voting that saw Marcus go up against Freddie and now Siavash? It always seems to be the case in Big Brother that the most entertaining housemates leave before the dross, but this year it's been worse than ever.

Angel, Sree, Noirin, Freddie, Bea, Marcus and Siavash. You may not want to be stuck in a lift with any of them, but they have at least all been interesting housemates. Somehow we end up with the likes of Lisa, Charlie and Rodrigo in the final week.

I suppose I could live with it if the current favourite Sophie [3.0] won, though I find this 'I'm so stupid' routine, a deeply depressing reflection of the decline of our education system, rather than being in any way funny.

If Rodrigo [7.4] won the show, I'd be mildly disgusted that so many people could possibly like such a hypocritical and boring individual. If Charlie [15.0] wins I may start arrangements to leave the country.

Lisa at [36.0] and David [75.0] have got no chance and have already experienced their greatest Big Brother moment, when they toured London dressed as aliens.

They were euphoric upon their return, although their mood was slightly dampened when it was revealed that whilst they'd been out, the other housemates had escaped from the house and that the £100,000 prize money had been taken away as punishment.

As Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dumber reflected on their day, Lisa commented that her favourite part of it was the fact that as they were in costumes, nobody knew who they were.

When she comes out and sees the viewing figures, she may realise that this is likely to be the case anyway.
