Super League Betting

Super League 12 promises to be one of the most exciting campaigns yet, as sides battle to reach the Grand Final to be played at Old Trafford in October.

Super League betting looks to be wide open with the traditional ‘Big Four’ of Bradford Bulls, Leeds Rhinos, St Helens and Wigan Warriors now facing increased competition from the like of last season’s beaten Grand Finalists Hull FC and the ever improving Warrington Wolves.

Defending premiers St Helens are likely to head the Super League odds following their all-conquering campaign of 2006, which saw them win the Grand Final, Challenge Cup and League Leaders Shield.

Those looking for a value Super League bet may be tempted by Wigan, who will kick on from last season’s disappointing campaign under the stewardship of Brian Noble. The arrival of mercurial Australian stand off Trent Barrett will surely ensure the Warriors reach the play-offs after two years without any knockout rugby league football at the JJB.

Bradford Bulls will once again feature heavily in the Super League betting having narrowly failed to reach their sixth consecutive Grand Final last season. Steve McNamara is building up a good young squad at Odsal which may surprise some and reward those who snap up their early Super League odds.

Leeds Rhinos will be prominent in the Super League betting, but they have never recaptured the form of 2004 when they won the Grand Final with a host of home-grown youngsters. Imports such as New Zealand internationals Brent Webb and Clinton Toopi should add class to the back line and they may be worth a Super League bet in the top try scorer market.

Hull FC will be looking to go one better than last season and claim Grand Final glory but may find it difficult to sustain their challenge for two successive seasons. The Airlie Birds have brought in forwards Danny Tickle and Willie Manu to boost their pack and will once again look towards centres Kirk Yeaman and Sid Domic to provide the finising touches.

Warrington Wolves welcome big-name signings such as Great Britain forwards Adrian Morley and Paul Johnson but the team will have to gel to provide good value for a Super League bet. However with Lee Briers guiding things from stand off, it’s never possible to write off Paul Cullen’s men.

The Super League betting in the relegation market will mostly centre around newly-promoted Hull Kingston Rovers, but the young squad at Craven Park could do well if they get off to a good start. Catalans Dragons are once again exempt from relegation so the Super League odds for Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and Salford City Reds to go down could well be shortened.
