The World Series of Poker Europe set a world record last year for the longest ever final table when John Juanda won the title after an incredible 22 hours of play.
This year, to raise money for charity, popular UK poker Pro Paul Zimbler will attempt to break a different endurance record and enter the record books for playing heads-up poker for the longest recorded time.
Zimbler aims to play around 200 people continuously for 80 hours from the 21st September starting at 1:00pm at the Empire Casino in London during the WSOPE and beat the previous of 74 hours and 12 minutes.
And Paul needs your help! As well as volunteers to join the growing list of celebrities and professional lineing up to take him on, Paul is looking for sponsorship, donations and items for a charity auction all in the hope of raising £20,000 for Make A Wish Foundation UK with Betfair Poker willing to match any money raised pound for pound for their nominated charity Sparks
Players due to compete against the 31-year-old include Roland De Wolfe, Annette Obrestad, Sorel Mizzi, John Tabatabai, Michael Greco, Roberto Romanello and many more will be confirmed during the week.
Paul Zimbler Q and A
Biggest Win to date:
Lacey Jones lol. I had a lot of $30k cashes but mainly play cash.
Favourite Player:
Daniel Negreanu I like his style.. and of course Phil Ivey.
Longest session of HU:
I used to play for 3 4 days straight in Vegas when I was younger but that wasn't seated the whole time I took breaks but stayed awake.
What made you think of breaking the HU World Record?
Well if it involves raising money for charity and doing something I love and challenging myself then it's all me.
Who would you most like to play (and beat) during your HU challenge?
Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, durrrr, Huck Seed and as many US players as possible. Celebrities Phil Taylor and Simon Cowell if they have time!
How much are you hoping to raise during the challenge and for who?
I would like raise a minimum of £20,000 for Make a Wish Foundation. Betfair have kindly and very generously agreed to match anything I raise to donate to their charity Sparks.
What makes you equipped to break this record?
Determination and my craziness.
Are you planning do do anything else over the 3 days?
I will be updating my blog and I'll be available on Facebook and also playing a few things online. That should keep me busy.
How can people help?
Come down and rail me. Better still challenge me...anyone can for £10. If you can't make it I've set up a Just Giving Charity page...you can donate..anonymously if you like!
