David 'Chino' Rheem's World Series of Poker dream is over for another year after he was eliminated in seventh place in the cruellest of circumstances.
Having suffered some losses to his stack, Rheem looked down at As Kc and open-shoved when the action got to him on hand #76 of the final table. Peter Eastgate, in the small blind, had been dealt Ah Qd and makes the call.
Rheem was a 74% favourite to double up his 3,500,000 stack but he was out-flopped by the young Dane on a board that read Qs 5s 7d. Now an 18/82 underdog, Rheem would need a king or running straight cards or he would be finished this tournament in seventh place. The nine of diamonds on the turn, followed by the four of hearts on the river sealed Rheem's fate and sent him to the rail $1,772,650 richer.
There are now just six players remaining in the tournament, each guaranteed to go home with at least $2,418,562.
