Phillips exit leaves bracelet chase to Europeans

The WSOP 2008 Main Event bracelet will be fought out by the only two Europeans in the November Nine after Dennis Phillips was eliminated in third place.

Russian Ivan Demidov, the third place finisher in the World Series of Poker Europe, will be heads up against the young Dane Peter Eastgate when play resumes later today trailing by around 22 million chips.

Phillips, the chip leader going into the delayed final table, was finally undone when going all-in on a board of Jc3s4d while holding 10c9h. His opponent quickly made the call having flopped bottom set holding 3d3c. An Ace on the turn meant the American was drawing dead on the river.

While Demidov is already in the record books for his feat of reaching two WSOP Main Event Final Tables in the same year, Eastgate will be gunning for Phil Hellmuth's record of being the youngest ever winner of the Main Event - a record set by the then 24-year-old Hellmuth back in 1989.

Peter Eastgate 79,500,000
