Nenad Medic, the 24 year old Full Tilt sponsored Canadian poker professional, beat 352 players to take down the $10,000 Pot Limit Holdem World Championship. It is his first bracelet to date.
Medic came to the final table second in chips, behind fellow Full Tilt pro Andy Bloch. The final
table also boasted other tough competition for Medic, with well known pros Mike Sexton, Phil
'Unibomber' Laak, Kathy Liebert and new Full Tilt signing Patrik Antonius all vying for the years first Bracelet.
When heads up play started, Medic had a dominating chip lead against Andy Bloch,
roughly $4.5m against Bloch's $2.5m after knocking out third place finisher Kathy Liebert
in a huge 3 way all in pot, where Medics QcQh bested Bloch's 9s9h and Lieberts 6s6d.
In final hand, on a board showing 8h5s4h, Bloch called Medics all in raise with 9h9d while
Medic tabled 7h5h for a gutshot straight flush draw and middle pair. The Jh fell on the turn
giving Medic the flush and the 5c on the river could not help Bloch who was eliminated in
second place, winning $488,048 for his efforts.
Medic won $794,112 for his victory and is crowned World Champion of Pot Limit Holdem,
taking over the title from last years winner Allen Cuningham. Nenad joins legends such as
Johnny Chan, Phil Hellmuth and Antonio Esfandiari with a WSOP bracelet in Pot Limit
Holdem.
