Montgomery busts in fifth, again

Scott Montgomery World Series of Poker is over for another year after he was eliminated in fifth position, mirroring his result in the LA Poker Classic.

The aggressive Peter Eastgate made yet another opening raise, this time to 1,250,000, prompting Montgomery to move all-in from the small blind. Eastgate eventually called.

Both players turned their cards onto their backs, Montgomery showing Ad 3d and Eastgate a pair of sixes. The flop of Ac Qs 4d sent Montgomery's fans on the rail into a frenzy and when the Ace of spades arrived on the turn, Eastgate was in a whole world of trouble.

Dennis Phillips claimed to have already folded on of the remaining sixes, so Eastgate was drawing to a single card, which miraculously arrived in the shape of the six of diamonds on the river to complete Eastgate's full house and send Montgomery, stunned, to the rail.

Montgomery takes home $3,096,768 for his efforts.
