Jeffrey Lisandro won his first World Series of Poker bracelet in 2007 when he took down the $2,000 Seven Card Stud Event for a cool $118,426 but he has come into his won at this year's series by doing what Brock Parker and Phil Ivey have done this year and that is win two bracelets in one series.
Lisandro, an Australian-born cash game specialist residing in Italy loves the World Series of Poker and rightly so. After all, over $2,300,000 of his $3,800,000 have been earned at the greatest poker festival in the world.
Five in-the-money finishes
The 2009 WSOP started well for Lisandro when he made the final table of the $10,000 World Championship Stud Event. The final table was incredibly tough and he exited in ninth place, earning just over $36,000 for his troubles. Just five days later he entered the $1,500 Seven-Card Stud Even # 16 and after playing some excellent poker for three days, he eventually outlasted 359 players to claim his second bracelet.
Two more cashes followed, a 17th place in the $5,000 Pot-limit Omaha Hi/low tournament followed by 33rd place in the $5,000 Pot-limit Omaha Event, which was almost won by Betfair Pro, Sorel Mizzi, but he would claim his second bracelet of the series when he took down the $10,000 World Championship Seven-Card Stud Hi/Low Event.
Marathon poker session
The final day's play went on for 15 hours, including a three hour heads-up battle with runner-up Farzad Rouhani which he ultimately won with two-pairs, tens and sixes after Rouhani missed his low draw on sixth street and the river. The victory meant 'The Iceman' has already earned half a million dollars at this years World Series!
Lisandro's amazing run at the World Series of Poker continues and with two bracelets and five cashes to his name already, he currently sits proudly at the top of the 2009 Player of the Year standings albeit tied on points with Ville Wahlbeck.
With Seven Card Razz and Seven-Card Stud hi/low events still to play before the 2009 series draws to an end, who would bet against Jeff 'Iceman' Lisandro adding to his three bracelets, 11 final tables, 30 cashes and $2,389,747 at the World Series of Poker. Certainly not me.
