Much has been made about the proposition bets between Phil Ivey and a number of his fellow professional players over the past few weeks, with rumours of Ivey being set to win over $10,000,000 from them should he win the Main Event in November.

However, it seems Mr Ivey did not rate his chances of taking down the 'Big Dance' and made a bet with the 'Great Dane', Gus Hansen (pictured) which could see him pay out over one million dollars if he claims his third bracelet of the 2009 World Series of Poker!

According to a recent blog by Gus Hansen, he was playing in Bobby's Room at the Bellagio with Tom 'Durrrr' Dwan, Bobby Baldwin and a few others when Ivey came in after finishing Day 1 of the Main Event.

Ivey had three times the average stack, around 90,000 chips, and Hansen had a feeling Ivey was in the right frame of mind to dominate the field and take down the entire tournament. He tried to get Ivey to offer him odds of 200-to-1 but Ivey declined but strangely Hansen turned down Dwan's offer of 125-to-1.

The following day Ivey hoovered up chips and when play ended he had over 350,000 chips in his stack. During a promotional photo shoot, Hansen and Ivey discussed the possibility of another bet and this time Ivey agreed to give odds of 55-to-1 that he would not win the Main Event.

Hansen quickly bet $20,000 on this, meaning if Ivey does win in November, he will have to hand over $1,100,000 of the $8,500,000 first prize money!

The aggressive Dane also confirmed that Ivey has number of bets riding on the Main Event but that people should not believe everything they read, going on to say that Ivey lost over a million dollars in last-longer bets during the $50,000 HORSE Event, even though that was not public knowledge on forums and in magazines.
