The betting market on the WSOP is starting to take shape ahead of the Main Event that starts on Friday July 3rd.
The most popular market is proving to be the "Will They Cash?" with money already changing hands about some of the more popular professional players beating the bubble and making that all important cash.
Last year 666 players cashed from a starting field of 6,833 hopeful contenders. Patrik Antonius, Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu and Johnny Chan head a recently formed market and already some shrewd punters have taken up some interesting position including a small interest at 24.0 about Betfair's own Sorel Mizzi - already in excellent form in the current series - repeating his feat in 2007 when he cashed for 40k. Mizzi already has four cashes at this year's World Series including an unlucky second in the $5k Pot Limit Omaha event in June.
Love him or hate him, Phil Hellmuth appears on the list of contenders and is another player in form having also cashed in four events to date. Hellmuth finished in the cash last season though he currently trades at rather skimpy odds of 5.2.
Surprisingly there has been little money for either Phil Ivey or last year's Main Event winner Peter Eastgate. The pair, who were recently named as the first picks by the respective team captains for this year's inaugrual Caesar Cup, may prove popular as the Main Event draws near.
