Betfair pro Sorel Mizzi has managed to outlast his team mates Annette Obrestad and John Tabatabai and make it through to Day 3 of the WPT Cyprus Event.

Despite starting the day as chip leader, Tabatabai failed to make it through to the end of Day 2, as did three others who started the day at the top of the leaderboard, including Phil Gordon and Ludovic Lacey.

The young pro's cause was not helped when he lost a significant pot early after play started for the day. On a flop reading Ks8d7s, Bruno Fitoussi checked, Tabatabai bet 4,000 into a 6,000 pot, which Antony Lellouche and Fitoussi called.

Both Fitoussi and Tabatabai checked the 6h on the turn but Lellouche bet 8,500, which only the Team Betfair player called. The 4c on the river didn't seem to change anything and Tabatabai once again checked and then called Lellouche's all-in shove. The Frenchman showed Td9d for the nuts and Tabatabai mucked his hand.

Meanwhile, Sorel Mizzi, who had early been called an idiot, in jest, by Mike 'The Mouth' Matusow was passing the time between hands by making bets with Layne Flack. By all accounts if the flop came down all red, Flack had to do ten push ups and if it was all black, Mizzi had to drop to the floor and give Flack ten!.

Mizzi was soon having to show his athleticism when a flop came down Qd5h8d, a board that prompted him to bet 5,600 and then call a raise to 15,000 from his opponent. Both players checked down the Jd turn and the 4c river and when Mizzi announced, "Queen" his opponent showed QsJc for two pair and the pot went his way. Flack then demanded push-ups from the young Canadian for the monotone flop, and Mizzi duly obliged!

That was the last of the major hands and at the close of play Mizzi found himself to be the lone member of team betfair sat 32 from 55 remaining players with 18 places being paid. Other big names also in with a shout are Allen Cunningham, Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson, Andy Bloch and chip leader, Nenad Medic.

*** UPDATE ***

Sorel finally busted in 28th place, just ten places short of the money. Tommy Vedes raises, Sorel re-raised and Nenad Medic woke up with Aces. The rest, as they say, is history
