De Wolfe in controversial pot at EPT Barcelona

Whilst the Betfair pros are battling it out at the WPT Cyprus there is an EPT Event taking place in Barcelona where a number of British players are still in contention for the title.

One such player is none other than Roland de Wolfe, the popular London-based pro who has WPT, EPT and WSOP titles to his name. Currently sat 13th from 23 remaining players, de Wolfe's progress was severley hindered by a controversial ruling during Day 3.

Just before the break, a large crowd had gathered around one of the tables to watch a large pot develop between Tobias Reinkemeier and Roland de Wolfe. The board played out 7c9h4hTc with Reinkemeier called a 95,000 bet from de Wolfe when the Ace of Hearts fell on the river.

Neither player wanted to show their hands but eventually de Wolfe piped up, "King-high" prompting Reinkemeier to demand his opponent to, "show it then." de Wolf gave him his wish by flashing the Kc before sliding his hand towards the muck and underneath the burn cards.

Reinkemeier then turned over Qc6c, prompting de Wolfe to attempt to retrieve his hand, Kc8d which was actually the best hand. Both players were claiming the pot and a ruling was asked for from Tournament Director Thomas Kremser.

After speaking to the dealer for several minutes, Kremser ruled in the favour of Reinkemeir and awarded him the pot as de Wolfe simply sat and shook his head.

Rules are rules and de Wolfe's hand was indeed mucked but in my opinion Reinkemeir's play was very unsporting and maybe justice was served when he busted out later on in the day in 30th position for a €23,000 pay day whilst de Wolfe has 475,000 chips and goes into Day 4 with a chance of a €850,000 prize.
