I've been running bad at life the past couple of weeks or so, maybe not as badly as Peter Jepsen, but pretty piss poor nonetheless.
For the past year I have been in a dispute with the local council over a council tax bill, which eventually was resolved when I moved from Dewsbury to Huddersfield, or so I thought. Another couple of letters came to our new address so I ignored them as I had been told everything was OK. After some further investigation it turns out I owe the sods £300 for the old address and a further £400 for the current one! I've not got £700 spare, especially not to give to the council so I shipped them with £150 from each.
Usually when something costs me money, something else goes wrong and kicks me whilst I am down and this time was no different. Firstly, the washing machine gave up the ghost meaning we had to get a new one and now the engine management light on my car keeps coming on, which I have since found out is the crankshaft sensor failing. Whilst not a huge expense, its the odd £100 here and there that really skint you.
I should probably sort a newer car out to be honest as I'm doing a lot more mileage these days and would love to go back to diesel power and add a few more mpg. I could probably get something half decent right now but the money I have in my account is for the tax-man and I don't want him on my back. He digs his fingernails in apparently.
All this coupled with lots of working and the kids being poorly because of their swine flu jabs I have had hardly any time to hit the virtual felt. I've probably not even played 1,000 hands in the past fortnight and most of what I did play was trying out the likes of Badugi (weird game I can't get my head around), five-card draw and 2-7 Triple draw, just for a change of pace and something to do before hitting the hay.
Hopefully, I will be able to log a fair few hands in the coming weeks and earn some cash and rakeback. I have a couple of bonuses that need clearing, only about $150 worth but it's still free money that is better off in my bankroll than sat in a poker site's pending screen.
I'm also on some sort of diet. At first I was going to count calories exactly but that became a pain in the arse after making a single coffee and a bowl of Fruit and Fibre so I've just been cutting down on the stuff I eat and been trying to eat more healthily adding more fruit into my diet. So far so good and I've dropped close to three pounds in a week despite going for beers on Monday night and consuming a mixed grill the night after! Ideally I'll get back down to my usual 13.5 or 14 stone instead of the 15.5 I currently am topping the scales at now
So after the gayest paragraph ever to hit this blog I think I'll call it a day. As always, thanks for reading and best of luck at the tables!
