Not touched a drop. Who is this imposter?
The highlight, if I had to choose one, has been watching a very humble Mickey “mement_mori” Petersen go from having just 7,300 chips at 2,000/4,000/500a to make the final table with 1,205,000 chips!
Hi there fishcakes, Yorkshire Pudding here writing to you from the comfort of my hotel room where an the only episode of QI that I haven't seen his week is keeping me company. I though it would be a good idea to fire this blog update out now because tomorrow is the EPT Copenhagen Main Event final table and then Sunday I will be having a much needed sleep before jetting back home to the good old UK.
This trip has been a new experience for me in that I have been stone-cold sober throughout it all. I've not massively embarrassed myself, I've not infuriated the locals and I have been getting up each morning at 0630 (even though I've not been going to bed until midnight) and I've felt bloody marvellous. I've still not finished ready my "Control Your Drinking" book but I should get the opportunity to do so on my travels on Sunday.
Before I started reading the book I could never imagine not drinking, it was a completely alien concept to me. But now I am 60-65% of the way through I can't actually see myself drinking again. It's really weird. I've felt so good this week and noticed things in people who have been drinking and who drink that have made me realise things about myself and it has been an eye opening experience.
As this is a poker blog I better leave the beer lectures alone and talk about something poker related haven't I? The tournament itself has been pretty good I suppose, nothing has really stuck out in my mind that has made me think I'll always remember the 2012 EPT Copenhagen Main Event but there have been some entertaining parts for sure. The highlight, if I had to choose one, has been watching a very humble Mickey "mement_mori" Petersen go from having just 7,300 chips at 2,000/4,000/500a to make the final table with 1,205,000 chips! Quite an amazing achievement by the standards of anyone.
My own poker playing has been none existent and I must admit I am raring to play again. The reason for me not playing is the long hours I have been having to work this week plus because of all the online grinders in the hotel the wireless internet in our rooms has been completely shit, which is actually a technical term I'll have you know. There is also the fact that Denmark has only just started to allow online poker to be played so I am not sure what the legality of playing on the sites I have on my machine is or if I would be half way through a game and I'd get cut off because I have heard all non-DK sites are IP blocked. I'll just have to wait until I get home I guess.
So instead of online poker my entertainment for tonight is Football Manager 12 that I managed to download this afternoon. I have already loaded a game up and I have taken charge of my beloved Leeds United so if any of you guys and gals play FM12 and know of some good players that are cheap and will come to the Championship let me know them please!
I think that's it for now to be honest, it's a bit difficult to write a poker blog when you've not played any poker and the poker you have seen been played has not exactly set the world on fire. Don't forget that the GSOP kicks off this Sunday and it should be an absolutely cracking series to say the least and I am looking forward to writing about them and in all the mini and normal GSOPs! Time to run good and have that big score I've been dreaming about! Until next time, good luck at the tables.
