I ended my last blog entry by saying "Let's hope the heater I am due to even things out takes place when I take a shot at a big MTT." Whilst that has not happened entirely, I do seem to be on the right side of variance for a change and I am really enjoying my poker again! Isn't this game brilliant when you're winning?
I realised I was missing out on a ton of spots where I should be shoving my money all-in. I previously didn't notice how nitty people can be when facing all-in bets, even at the micro stakes games.
As I was typing my rant at variance, I entered a freeroll satellite where the winner gained entry into the bounty game I came third in the other week for €198. With 133 runners and a turbo structure, coupled with the fact I was writing my blog, I didn't think I stood a chance to be honest but just as I published my blog, I took the tournament down and get to try to win it again this week. Hopefully Devilfish won't be able to play then his bounty gets added to the prizepool which is a better scenario than trying to bust the wig wearing loud-mouth!
Elsewhere, poker has been going really well, even if I do say so myself. I came 17/180 for double my buyin then managed to outlast 85 others to come 5/90 in a $2 game. In 11 MTT I had three cashes, two of which were final tables, but I was still actually down money wise! Then Everton Yorkie sent me a link to a video made by a MTTSNG player by the name of TheLipoFund and I think it has transformed my game!
I've played a lot of MTTSNG but after watching 2/3s of this video, I realised I was missing out on a ton of spots where I should be shoving my money all-in. I previously didn't notice how nitty people can be when facing all-in bets, even at the micro stakes games. So far I have played 52 MTTSNG with an average buy-in of $3.25 (I'm a balla obv) and have an ROI of 72.2%. Whilst this is a tiny sample size and the win rate obviously not sustainable I do know that a lot of it is down to the video I watched the night before I started playing these.
The 52 games have only taken 8 hours of play too as I have found a way that I am comfortable playing eight tables. Basically, I have been tiling them so there are four on my screen, then stacking another four on top of those and letting the poker client pop the active table to the front when action is needed. Whilst this cuts down on the number of reads, if any, I have, the strategy I am employing does not really need them so I'm not overly worried. I tried a spell 10 tabling last night and that went well so I might give it another go later.
It would be great if I could start 12-16 tabling continuously for 4-5 hours a day as there is definitely a lot of money to be earned in these games. Due to not being able to reload if I went bust, I'm using a 100BI rule so need $650 in my account in order to move up to the $6.50 games, but at this rate it shouldn't take too long and then I can start to earn som significant, for me, monies for once at this crazy game I love!
I'll leave it there for now as I am starving and could eat a poorly monkey, but as always, thanks for reading and best of luck at the tables!
