Poker blog round-up: Teamdobbs, The Main, Ben Grundy and Brian Townsend
Pud's Poker Progress

It's Friday once again which not only means it is the weekend where most of you lucky buggers get 48 hours off from the world, but it also means it is poker blog round-up time. When I write this round-up I try to introduce you to blogs and bloggers that you may not have seen on your travels but this week a couple of them have graced these pages before. Here goes.
First up is a post from a member of the Newcastle Poker Forum by the name of Cowhead that appeared on the blog of Team Dobbs. It seems that Cowhead recently did some work driving for his sister's pet taxi service and to say he ran into some real characters is an understatement. I actually read this entry at 0230 this morning over my first of nine coffees so far and I laughed out loud and almost woke up baby Pud! IMO, it is absolute golden comedy without trying to be funny and part two of the saga has just appeared on the blog as I type this up. Enjoy,
Next up is The Main's Domain, a professional poke player who has recently moved back to Canada after a spell in the Eastern Asia. The Main used to update his blog almost everyday but it seems like his love for blogging has waned a little and therefore the frequency of his posts has dropped too. He recently wrote an entry about finding a lucky coin which he used to make some decisions at the poker table resulting in a $3.6k win for him! A number of poker players use the coin method to make close decisions so I thought I'd give it a try. I asked my shiny ten pence piece if I should go to the shop for a pint of milk to which it said yes. Unfortunately, it seems the coin is magic but can't tell the time as the shop was shut and I got soaked for no reason at all in the wee hours of this morning. I run bad at life and magic coins.
One blog that I think almost everyone has read, judging by the fact it has been viewed over 185,000 times since its first entry, is that of Brian Townsend. Mr Townsend is a high-stakes pro who has recently been playing some of the bigger games of Pot-limit Omaha on the net, resulting in some big swings. In this entry he describes how he managed to lose $110,000 in just 2,400 hands but then managed to win over $50,000 of it back the following day. Townsend also regularly posts hand histories and strategy for free which are a must read for anyone wanting to have a brief insight into a top professionals lifestyle.
Another high-stakes PLO player is former Betfair pro, Ben Grundy. The Milkybar Kid never avoids anyone at the table and is always on the look out for potential fish, a rare species at the nosebleed stakes. Anyway, it seems he recently paid a visit to the gym but realise he'd forgotten his trainers, or sneakers for you crazy Americans! After returning home to fetch them, he checked the lobby of the poker client and saw an unknown player sat with a large stack at a $50/$100 game. Not one to turn down action, Ben sat with him an "36 hours later I'd done $300k. Definitely my biggest loss in a short period I think" Lifestyles of the rich and famous eh?
I think I'll leave it there for another week. I did have another blog post to mention but re-reading again I don't think it would fit in as it is a little sombre so maybe I'll try to squeeze it into next week's entry.
As always, thanks for reading, good luck at the tables and have a great weekend!
