Poker blog round-up: Barry Carter, NYCRounders, Snoopy and Truthans
Pud's Poker Progress

The World Series of Poker is more than halfway through and I have been reading plenty of blogs and stories that have made me insanely jealous of the guy and gals out there. I really need to get my act together and sort a trip out to Sin City at some point. Maybe Betfair could fly me out next year, nudge nudge wink wink!
Misreading hands always reminds me that Ace-four suited is called "Bangkok Lady Boy" because on the surface it looks beautiful but upon closer inspection you find out that something is drastically wrong! Someone who recently had a misfortune of thinking they had won a huge pot when indeed they hadn't is the editor of Poker News UK, Barry Carter.
Barry recently busted out of a £168 MTT when he called a raise on the button with a pair of sixes and flopped a set on a J69 board. All the money went in and his opponent showed 99 for a higher set. Barry goes on to say, "The worst/funniest thing was that from a distance, I'm sure he had 9-6 (sixes and nines look similar) and I apologised to him for such a cold deck, and was pretty shocked to see the pot get scooped his way."
I've never had the chance to read any material by John Vorhaus but apparently he is a very good poker author. Juno from the great site NYC Rounders has been reading "Killer Poker" by Vorhaus and they have nothing but admiration for the book and have even used some of the hints and tips to make changes to their daily lives and not just at the poker table. The post "I Pledge" sets out seven new rules Juno has put in place since reading the book and I'd recommend spending some time on the rest of the site as there are some great interviews and articles on there.
The next blog needs no introduction and if you have never heard of it then this must be your very first time on the internet. I'm talking about Tao of Poker, one of my favourite sites on the entire net. Yes it is that good. When Dr Pauly isn't entertaining his army of fans with hilarious stories, other guest bloggers post on Tao of Poker and one such man is the UK's very own Snoopy.
Snoopy used to keep his own blog but killed it off, much to the disappointment of anyone who had been fortunate enough to read any of his work. He recently interviewed JP Kelly, the first Brit to win a WSOP bracelet in two years, and made a brilliant job of it. Any budding interviewers out there take a look at how it is done! Snoopy has also been writing about the 2009 World Series of Poker over at Blackbelt Poker where is awesome writing style is being put to good use.
Finally, I am a sucker for a good trip report. In fact my trip report addiction is so bad that the trip doesn't even have to be related to poker. Thankfully this one by Truthans ends up talking about a casino but I particularly love his description of German folk's favourite past-time and how a French receptionist spoke to him. Funny read to end this week's round-up.
As always, thanks for checking in and I hope to see you back next week!

"Killer Poker" was the first poker book I ever read and I found his "bet big or go home" philisophy ideal for micro-stakes.Glad things going well on the Pud Junior front too mate.
cheers,
Acorn
