Weeeee! Another weekend is upon us meaning we have all once again survived the working week! After my virus last week, I've had to contend with a heavy cold but I've still had time to do the rounds in the blogosphere so here's a selection for you to read over your dinner hour!
I honestly think some people are just born unlucky, how else could you explain why nothing seems to go right for them and when things do look like they are on the up something always comes along to knock them back down. I know one of these guys, he goes by the name of Starlight Coast.
Starlight, or Jim as I personally know him as, is one of life's nice guys. I met him when we both were made moderators on a forum a few years ago and we've stayed in touch ever since by email and MSN (he lives in California). Jim has a dream of becoming a full time Fixed-limit Hold'em pro but everything keeps going against him. Recently things were looking good but then life variance bit him firmly on the arse when his wife had a fall at home and actually broke her neck. Thankfully she is as ok as one would be after such an injury but to top it off Jim was running some errands, slipped and has broken his leg! Stop by at Island Hopper and say hi to cheer him up.
One player who is most definitely a professional player, though his main game are MTTs is Paul Foltyn who keeps a blog called "Poker For A Living." Paul is one of the best tournament players in the world and is currently ranked 2nd best in the UK and 19th best in the world on Pocket Fives. A lot f young pros have a bad reputation for being overy cocky and not knowing the value of money etc but Paul seems like a top bloke despite being young and recently gave over $6,500 to charities as part of a deal he made with himself during a recent tournament series. Top bloke and top player, maybe it's because he's a fellow Yorkshireman, who knows. Read more here
Another blog that I found on my travels and one that I am looking forward to reading in the coming months is the blog of Nicky Evans called "The Rocky Road To Success In Tournament Poker." One of the reasons I'm looking forward to his blog is that he has recently started a staking deal with none other than UK online legend, Chris 'Moorman1' Moorman.
Last but certainly not least is a blog by a player who's name I have absolutely no idea how to pronounce, Tiofaidharla. I am a sucker for a good trip report, and even more so if it is a trip report from Las Vegas. This Australia based player recently made the huge journey from Oz to Sin City and relives it right here.
Well, that is all from me for another week. Hope you've enjoyed the round-up. As always, thanks for reading and have a great weekend.
