I have had a really nice weekend so thought I would round it off with a quick blog entry, here on my little piece of the internet. Things got under way on Friday when Sister Pud, her husband-to-be, Mrs P and I went for a curry to celebrate my sister's recent birthday.
We had a good laugh during the meal and despite eating enough spicy food to sink the Bismark, we still found room for a few beers too whilst we chatted and watched a couple of films. We ended up watching World Trade Centre and to be honest we were all disappointed with the film, it had potential but I would not give it more than a five out of ten.
Saturday was taken up chilling as I felt a bit rough in all honesty, a touch of cold and the after effects of too much beer! After putting on two stones in the past year, I have decided to cut down on the beer intake and now only have a drink on a Friday night instead of three to four nights per week. Not drinking for a whole week really made a difference and I felt quite drunk if I am honest and then a bit ropey for half of the next day! I must be getting old!
Today I went to visit Pud Jr and had a brilliant time playing on his Nintendo Wii. I have seen the consoles in the shops and everyone I know who has played on one is always full of praises for it, but today was the first instance I had tried one out. To say they are addictive is an understatement! Driving around the track on Mario Kart by using the wireless steering wheel was great fun, even if Pud Jr did wipe the floor with me each time we played against each other!
Whilst I was visiting Pud Jr, he gave me a blood sugar test. Anyone who reads this blog will know my son is a Type-1 diabetic and is now reliant on insulin injections to regulate his blood sugar. Over the past few weeks, I have been displaying some signs of diabetes and have worried myself stupid by looking up symptoms on various internet sites!
Anyway, I mentioned this to his Grandma and she asked if I wanted to test my blood sugar with Pud Jr's equipment. Obviously, he jumped at the chance to show off his kit and stab the end of my thumb to make it bleed! The machine said my blood sugar was 7.1, an hour after eating some am on toast, which apparently is within the normal boundaries for a non-diabetic. I still might get my fasting blood sugar looked at for complete piece of mind.
I seem to have turned things around on the poker front too and have now played 70 games in total this year. Whilst this is on course for 3k over the year, I really want to ramp up the volume next week and play closer to 100-120 games, possibly giving multi-tabling a go.
Over the 70 games, I have won 55.7% of them for an ROI of 6.1% which is below the 10% I wanted to achieve but it is still better than it was four days into my challenge. I am still to come up against a single player at the $5.25 games that has put me under severe pressure and if I could refrain from making stupid, elaborate plays then my ROI would be double what it is currently I am sure. No hands to show today as I am waiting for my tracking software to be updated so that tournaments are completely supported, this should be done within the next day or two when I will be able to see if I am running good or bad in terms of expected value.
Oh, a quick apology for putting the last two articles in this section instead of the main Betfair site. The powers that be decided to put them in here and I had no control over it. I know at least one person was disappointed by this and chose to leave a comment pretending to be Amatay, but it has not been published!
As always, thanks for reading and best of luck at the tables!
