I mentioned in my previous post that I was on a mission to get out of the micro-stakes for good and I began this quest on Friday by playing a ton of hands of full ring Rush Poker. Never again!
When Rush was first introduced I, like tens of thousands of other fish, hit the tables to see what all the fuss was about. From the off I was a losing player at it, probably dropping 10-15 buy-ins over a month but I kept dipping my toes back in the water, and either broke even or lost.
During part of Friday and some of Saturday I played a grand total of 4,316 hands and had some crazy swings. I lost 4.5BI during my first session after running three buy-ins under EV, then proceeded to win six buy-ins the following session, only to lose it back the following one! In total I lost an entire $0.05, yes five frigging cents! #Wasteoftimeaments.
On Sunday night I made the switch to HUSNG so instead of chasing the bonus I currently have, I will see if it clears and if it does great, if not I'm not that bothered. I've not played HUSNG for a while and God did it show with me losing my first four games, no running badly just me playing awful. I don't think the fact I'd been supping bottles of Bud during the England match helped but still I played like a real 'tard. Things got worse and I had only won one match from the eight played but then something snapped back into place and by the time I finished for the night I had won eight of my 18 games. Not ideal but considering the start I had I'll take it.
One thing I noticed was the standard, whilst still poor, was much better than when I last played these games. Nobody open-limped ever, and they were aggressive on all three streets and put me in some real tricky spots, well tricky for $5 games that is. I don't think my result were helped by the fact I played three matches against someone I thought was a complete fish but turns out to be one of the leaders on the Sharkscope leaderboard! Game selection FTW!
I'm thinking of playing standard HUSNG on an evening and try my arm at some of the Super-Turbo games. They have changed the rake and structure so that they are actually beatable in the long run, albeit not by as much as standard speed games. By all accounts they are full to the brim of fishes wanting to gamboool away their bankrolls and I think my end game is pretty good HU which is where the majority of these games are played due to stack sizes. We'll see anyway and report back here.
In other news the WSOP Main Event is almost upon us and a host of Betfair players are in Las Vegas for the build up to it. One of them is sponsored pro John "kunku wap" Tabatabai who recently had his night out paid for by none other than Phil Ivey!
Until next time, thanks for reading and best of luck at the tables!
