Light at the end of the tunnel
Pud's Poker Progress
/ Matthew Pitt / 01 June 2009 / 1 Comments
I don't know if it has come across in my recent blog posts but I've been a little bit down in the dumps and generally feeling sorry for myself. It's been a combination of needing to lose some weight, wanting to move house, Step Pud trying his best to give me an ulcer and the whole Pud Jr debacle.
The second half of May was good for me at the tables and although I didn't manage to play 100 HUSNG I did come close with 91 games played, 90 at the $5.25 level and one at $2.15 that I registered for by accident!
Late Friday afternoon I received a phone call from my solicitor informing me we have been given a date to go to court and apply for parental responsibility and proper access to Pud Jr amongst other things. I'm pretty stoked about it as it should mean I get to actually see him properly, at set times and actually be able to do so without either his grandma or granddad being an inch away from us at all times. I've danced to their tune for a year now but not for much longer. I would love to see the look on Pud Jr's mum's face when she realises my threats of legal action were not empty after all.
As of today I have started some sort of health kick. Whilst I am not dieting as such, I will be cutting out a lot of snacky foods I eat and stop calling off at KFC for Hot Wings, or to the chippy for a fish butty then having my evening meal too! I'm also going to join the local gym although I have no intention of pumping iron just yet. My local sports centre does 20 swims for the price of 17 which works out close to £50 for off-peak but a gym membership is only £25 a month with unlimited use of all facilities. Go figure! I'm hoping swimming a few times a week will help me drop around 1.5 stone as I'm currently 15 stone and a pound whilst stood in just my pants (sexy thought huh?), and stop my knees and lower back aching.
The second half of May was good for me at the tables and although I didn't manage to play 100 HUSNG I did come close with 91 games played, 90 at the $5.25 level and one at $2.15 that I registered for by accident! Overall I am pretty delighted with how things progressed with me cashing in 61.5% of them for an ROI of 18% and over $85 added to my bankroll. I really feel I am getting the hang of these now and put it partly down to some of the video's I've watched over at HUSNG.com where I am currently going through the PrimordialAA series. Whilst I have not learned anything I would count as ground breaking I have managed to plug a lot of leaks I didn't actually realise were leaks and my results speak for themselves.
Although I am the King of setting challenges and then dropping them as quickly as I have conjured them up, I am going to set some goals for June to try keep me on the straight and narrow. I want to lose half a stone, play a minimum of 300 HUSNG and move up to the $11.50 and hold my own there. I could probably play the $10.50's with my roll now but I want to wait until I have a bigger bankroll before moving up.
I have actually switched sites again despite my success last month, mainly because I have a $120 bonus outstanding that works out as 25% rakeback and I was only getting 27% on the site I was playing last month. Also, I want to get into the turbo games again and the turbos on the site I was playing only start 50BB deep and quickly turn into a crap shoot where as this site's are more like the standard games on my old site. If that made sense! Hopefully June will start off as May ended.
Before I sign off I need to give a big shout to Robert Price of Animal Poker who came 4/918 in Event 3 - $1,500 Omaha hi/low at the WSOP for a cool $73,405. I'm sure he's pleased with the cash but gutted for getting so close to a bracelet.
Current bankroll stands at $238.88
As always, thanks for reading and best of luck at the tables.
