Getting Back On The Grind
Pud's Poker Progress

The past week has been one of poker, poker, more poker and a little bit more poker thrown in for good measure; which actually is just how I like it.
I ended my last entry hoping (and therefore removing all chances of it happening) of me cashing in the weekly APAT game. As you can probably tell from the bracketed words, I failed miserably. On a positive note though I did enjoy the chocolate covered peanuts I was devouring throughout but they are hardly going to make me any cash are they?
This week I've been in Campione for the European Poker Tour, reporting not playing, so spare time has been at somewhat non-existent. Usually EPT main events kick off at 12:00 and finish around 21:30-22:30 but for some reason, possibly because the Italians would have moaned their rocks off had it been any other way, this one started at 14:00 meaning we were getting finished at 01:30, hardly ideal for solid poker playing especially when I had been getting up at 06:00-07:00.
That said I have been playing some poker, mainly six-max cash games but nothing exactly spectacular in all honesty. I've only played around 1,000 hands and made around three buy-ins so I'm hardly ready for the big time but at least it is some profit and stands me in good stead for when I do return home and hit the tables a little harder.
When I do return home for seven days before I fly out to Vienna I am probably going to refocus on playing tournaments because I feel this is where I play best and where I am most confident playing after my recent results and the fact I have been watching some of the best players in Europe play tournament poker in front of my very eyes for a week! As my bankroll is now pretty decent, I'll be playing tournaments up to $30 freezeouts I reckon which could lead to some decent scores if I put my mind to it!
The not drinking is still going well, almost two months now since I last drank anything alcoholic and this despite being surrounded by free wine for the past week. I feel so good and so positive at the moment that I reckon I could take over the world! Maybe not but you get where I am coming from. Surely that can only be a good thing when it comes to poker?
Although it probably won't be during April I am hoping to dip my toes into the waters that are live tournaments. I have a £150 buy-in sorted for me at the Dusk Till Dawn club and I want to play in the new LCI 2010 UK Poker Tour when it hits Leeds plus the Genting Poker Series heads to Sheffield in the not too distant future and it would be pretty cool to play in that one but you never know, I could end up in Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker and not be able to play in anything for two months!
Right, I will leave it there because the EPT main event is still going so I better do some work, plus Viktor Blom is taking on Isaac Haxton in a few minutes in what should be an epic heads up battle where the winner will walk away $500,000 richer! MBN.
