There is a little-known fact that when choosing a partner in life, men are attracted subconsciously to woman who have characteristics of their mother and females to males who resemble their father.

Strange but true, or at least I think I have read that somewhere! Anyway, my point was going to be that when choosing a blog to read and follow, bloggers are subconsciously attracted to writers and players who resemble themselves. Let's move on eh?!

On my daily rounds around the world of poker blogs, I found the blog of The Goatian, who's latest post goes into his recent lack of motivation. The Goatian makes a decent amount of money from poker so I was interested in what a lazy month meant in terms of hands played and nearly fell off my chair when I read, "Last month was a lazy month for me but i still managed to put 50k hands in." I don't think I've ever put in 25k hands in a month to be honest. It is worth checking out some of his older posts too as he obviously knows what he is doing!

Another player who reminds me of myself, due to his thirst for knowledge and wanting to develop his game, is Havin_a_Laff , who sums up how a lot of poker players feel when they are discovering new strategy and theory. He goes on to say "Poker is an amazing game - I think I have a fair bit sussed then it hits me like a bombshell that really I still only know the basics. Or my ideas are confused or not well understood. So I am doing things which I know are fundamentally correct but sometimes don't have a really solid grasp on the rational for my actions." I left a comment letting him know my thoughts, I suggest you do the same as he obviously has a good poker head on his shoulders and could be at a table near you in the future!

One blogger I have a lot of respect for is Geordie poker player TeamDobb who is part of a team of bloggers who update the TeamDobbs blog. I recently had the pleasure of playing in a tournament organised by Dobb, although I never actually met him, regrettably. His recent post, "Short n sweet as I can" is essentially a trip report but the first couple of paragraphs give an insight to what sort of person he is and this passage in particular highlights that the misconception that poker players are degenerates, only interested in money, is for the best part, wrong, "Playing poker gives people the opportunity to meet a lot of totally different people from all walks of life and it also gives the chance to see how some conduct themselves and treat others."

My old English teacher always told me it is good etiquette to finish anything you write in a positive manner, if at all possible. Whilst the above entry is far from negative, some may find it heavy going so please pay a visit to James Key's blog and read his entry entitled "Bananas". It includes, pregnant men, five-of-a-kind preflop and of course, some bananas!

That is all for this week. Tune in next Friday for the weekly blog round-up. Until next time, good luck at the tables.
