I hope you are all sitting down to read this as I have a one-off bit of information for you! Yorkshire Pudding has actually finished a challenge for once, shock horror! In my last post I said I wanted to play 60 HUSnG in a week and I managed to better that and play 87 of them!

Even better than managing to actually complete my goal, I actually made profit too, at an average of $1 per SnG, shame I managed to blow it, plus interest, playing Omaha cash games and some MTT's! I am a little annoyed with myself for wasting my profit on cash games but I am very pleased with the way my HU play has progressed.

One of the problems I had in the past was playing far too tightly and being easy to read. I have now made a ton of changes and no longer try to play a set style, instead I am adapting to my opponents and playing accordingly. I have also started to recognise patterns in the villain's play and have made some sick calls with King-high type hands and laid down some big hands too. If only I could stay away from the cash tables where I seem to bleed chips lately!

When playing poker, I always stick to the rules, do not angle shoot and will try to play fair as much as I can. The problem with HUSnG, is sometimes you will disconnect and then it is a race to get back before they have stolen the blinds to leave you with a useless stack. I have sat out for people in the past and I did so again during the week when I was playing in a $21 game.

We had only played a few hands when my opponent disconnected. As I usually play the $5.25 and $10.50 games, a $21 game was quite high for me and I must admit the first thing that sprung to mind was "rape the blinds!" However, after a couple of seconds I decided to sit out until my opponent came back, giving him ten minutes before I would start to raise blindly and win the match.

After three minutes the guy came back and thanked me for waiting and admitted that he would not have done the same thing had I disconnected but would do so in the future! I went on to win the match for $40 which was a welcome boost. I am not the biggest believe r in Karma and the like but it seemed to spill over into my life away from the tables too!

Last weekend Mrs P had horrific toothache and due to her pregnancy, she could not take a lot of pain relief. To cut a long story short, she had to have a wisdom tooth extracted by the emergency dentist. As luck would have it, she then chipped another back tooth so I went into town to make her an appointment to get it seen to before it goes manky!

Parking is a nightmare, so with me only going to make an appointment, I decided to park on the double yellow lines outside the surgery! Silly Pud! As I was giving Mrs P's details, I noticed someone, in uniform, pacing around my car! Obviouslky, I ran outside and jumped into the driving seat and asked if I she had issued the ticket. Thankfully, Lady Luck was shining down on me and she was just about to issue the ticket but had not done so and said I could move the car, told me off and sent me on my way! Boom! £60 saved!

Now it was my own silly fault for parking there but I have wondered since if my kindness at the tables had set the wheels of Karma in motion and that was my bit of good luck for being nice? Maybe, who knows!

I have no major plans for the rest of the week but I think I will be looking to grind some more HUSnG as I seem to be quite profitable at them. I am also looking forward to the WSOP Final Table restarting on November 9 and will be glued to the updates to see who is crowned the 2008 Champion.

As always, thanks for reading and best of luck at the tables!

Great going with the HUs. Omaha cash games, my favorite waste of dimes, are the devil :)

About karma, by my definition it is. Being friendly at the table carries over into the rest of what you do and vice versa. You were a gentleman and you don't turn that off. Would you have approached the Lady Of The Tickets with a less friendly attitude, you might have pushed her over to giving you a ticket. That's karma, couldn't be simpler. Sure, she could have had a bad they and still hand you a ticket but you did your bits to put the odds in your favor. Now I'll stop before it becomes a treatise on karma :P
