Just before 13:00 GMT Wednesday, Annette Obrestad won Event 4 of the Aussie Millions Series 2010 bagging 40,000 AUD continuing Team Betfair's excellent performance at the championships following John Tabatabai's victory last year in the Heads Up Event.

Surprisingly, despite many strong shows over the past couple of years, this was the popular Norwegian's first live victory since famously winning the 2007 World Series of Poker Europe and perhaps more surprisingly the win came in a Pot Limit event rather than her preferred No Limit Hold'Em.

Delivering the news in her usual forthright way on her Twitter account, a delighted Annette tweeted: "Yayyyyy i won!!!!"

Annette had begun the day and final table sitting third in chips with 153,000 behind chip leader Oliver Gill on 241,000 and Con Angelakis on 165,000.

Despite an early setback against the short stacked Billy Seri, Obrestad took the chip lead an hour later when eliminating Tony Bloom. Holding AhKdQdJc against her opponents AcAs9h5h, a board of Jh5d6sKc2h saw her take the chip lead for the first time in the tournament and eliminate the popular UK-born Bloom.

Shortly after Paul Taylor was eliminated by Con Angelakis, Annette was sending another player to the rail in the shape of local hero and sponsored pro Emad Tahtouh when her pocket Aces was improved by an Ace on the flop and a failed gutshot failed to materialise for Tahtouh.

Tautouh's elimination seemed to calm down the players and it took another hour and a quarter for the next person to lose all their chips. This dubious honour went to Con Angelakis who was eliminated at the hands of over night chip leader Oliver Gill.

Annette then started to do what she does best and that is put relentless pressure on here opponents. Oliver Gill, who had in the previous hand tripled up to around 86,000 got into a raising war with Annette holding JcKcJd7d and she was priced in to call with 3s4s8c6h which ended up turning into a full house on a Qc5h8h6d8s board to make the contest three-handed.

The aggressive Norwegian then ended up splitting two pots before she inevitably eliminated yet another player at the final table, this time Ryan Gutch. Annette flopped a full house which meant Gutch was drawing dead when the money went in on the turn, even though Gutch had the nut flush. As the play went into the heads-up phase, Annette had an 856,000 to 104,000 chip advantage.

Those expecting an epic heads-up battle would be soon disappointed as Annette took just three hands to knock her opponent out and claim her first major Pot-limit Omaha title. After a raise and a re-pot preflop, the players revealed their hands. Annette held KcJdJh2s which was against the Kh8dJc9h of Billy Seri. The board ran out Ac9cAh2cTc and Annette's jacks held up to give her the $40,000 first prize and left Seri with the $31,200 runner-up money.

Look out for an event write up on Annette's blog and best of luck to the Annette, Sorel Mizzi and John Tabatabai as the Aussie Million Main Event looms large.
