News from the Casino de Montreal where the world's largest multi-table poker tournament ever run on automated poker tables is to be staged.
Of course, this is all about human intervention. It's PR for the casino. But what of the bigger picture? Do we need croupiers? And isn't this just like playing online poker in a bigger room with a shared toilet?
At the events 240 players required the presence of just 4 casino workers.
The event was own by Mohamed Nadim, an engineering student, who took home $20,000 CAD. Happy him.
"Running a tournament of this magnitude is what we always envisioned for PokerPro. We are pleased with the success of this tournament and proud of our partnership with Casino de Montreal," says Chris Halligan, CEO of PokerTek, manufacturer of the PokerPro tables.
You see what I mean about the human element being vital to the support of robots. It's more of a human stain. Do we need branding on poker tables?
