Pot Limit Omaha has exploded in popularity in the last few years, with it now being the game played the most regularly, for the most money, of any of the poker variations on offer.
As a result, the fields of PLO tournaments have started to increase in size dramatically, and I would not be surprised to see a much larger field than the 156 players who registered last year - well over 200 entrants could easily be possible, which will swell the prize fund enormously.
The final table of this event last year with dotted with stars, including Tony G, Andy 'The Mad Monk' Black, and eventual winner Dario Alioto. Players to keep an eye on in this event include not just the regular name pros, but also up and coming players such as the Di and Hac Dang, who have been dominating the online PLO games for the last year or so, Phil 'OMGClayAiken' Galfond, who won a WSOP bracelet in PLO this year, and is also definitely a player to keep your eye on - he has proven experience in both the tournament and nose bleed stakes variations of this game.
A final player who must be considered extremely dangerous is David Benyamine. He is having an incredible year, having already won a WSOP bracelet in Omaha hi/lo, as well as having won over two million in the online games since the start of the year. In fact, David Benyamine is by far the biggest winner of all time in the online PLO games, and his presence at the table is never to be underestimated.
With a single add on available, we may well see a bit more gambling in the earlier levels than usual, although certainly nothing like the re-buying frenzy we saw at this years WSOP $5k rebuy. With levels at 60 minutes there will be plenty of action along the way - PLO can be a truly savage game at times, and I would not be surprised to see many players walking away from their tables shaking their heads about what went wrong.
