Jack ten is one of the nicest hands you can ever look down at when playing deep stacked no limit hold'em, particularly if it is suited. This is because jack ten is a very versatile hand that often flops monsters, and the boards that give it monsters also tend to be action flops.
Unlike hands like ace king or big pairs, with jack ten you basically either hit big or hit nothing. As a result, the choices you face with it are usually relatively simple, and you can nearly always know exactly where you are when the big money starts to go in.
This is because most of the straights that jack ten can make are formed from high cards, which means that people playing big aces and Broadway cards will invariably call you down if they have hit a pair or two.
Another key thing about jack ten in regard to straights is that every single two card straight ('two card' simply means that you are using both the jack and the ten to make the straight) possible with jack ten will be the nuts. This means that when you do hit big with it you will often know that you have the best possible hand and can get your money in accordingly.
One of the other great features of a hand like jack ten is that you nearly always know where you are with it. Unlike hands like ace king or big pairs, with jack ten you basically either hit big or hit nothing. As a result, the choices you face with it are usually relatively simple, and you can nearly always know exactly where you are when the big money starts to go in. This leaves your opponent tending to either win a small pot or lose a big one - always a great result for you in any form of poker.
Always remember that for these things to work in favor of a hand like jack ten you have to be playing deep stacked poker - you will miss the flop so often with a hand like this that constantly calling bets with it pre flop, if either you or your opponent have a small stack, is largely useless, and will lose you a lot of money over the long run.
Get in cheap, try and flop a monster and crack someones hand with one of the most versatile and fun hands in hold'em.
