Jeffrey Pollack - WSOPE Statement

Jeffrey Pollack makes his views felt in response to anti-WSOPE sentiment on the Hendon Mob forum.
Dear Members of the Mob Poker Forum,
There's obviously been some talk that we're not up to the challenge of launching the WSOP Europe Presented by Betfair.com, so I want to share my thoughts about this undertaking:
1. We're in it for the long haul. I don't expect that everything will go according to plan or that we'll even sell out in the first year. What's important is that the WSOP team and our new partners at Betfair are committed to creating a great new event and staging an exciting, prestige tournament -- and growing the tournament over the years ahead.
2. The folks at LCI know something about running poker tournaments: the Sportsman and the Casino at the Empire are among the busiest card rooms in London; Fifty has a tradition of running high buy-in poker tournaments; and the senior staff has a wealth of relevant experience.
3. The operations team we've assembled includes the best poker and gaming personnel from each LCI venue.
4. We've been training the dealers for WSOP Europe since April.
5. Jack Effel, the WSOP Tournament Director, will be on hand to supervise the operations team and make sure everything from structures to security is managed appropriately.
6. We're using TDA rules, to erase any confusion on the part of non-UK players, and all Tournament Officials will be in direct communication with each other -- even across our three venues -- to ensure smooth and consistent operations.
7. We'll be using the highest quality chips, cards, and poker tables.
8. We've solicited input on the structures from our International Players Advisory Council.
9. Our structures have been designed with the player in mind. Never before has there been a tournament of this magnitude with 2 hour clocks and such a generous amount of starting chips.
10. The tournament venues are totally upscale, up-market, and comfortable. Everyone who enters the WSOP Europe will be treated like an A-list high-roller.
I understand there may be some skepticism, but I invite everyone to be part of this event and compete to win a coveted WSOP bracelet.
If we don't get something right this year, then please be part of the solution to make it better. Please participate in our inaugural year and be part of history -- a history that you can help write.
It's the World Series. It's poker. So, it will be fun...I promise!
Registration for all three events is available at every LCI casino in the UK and wire transfers can be sent directly to US dollar, British pound, and Euro accounts in London. For wire instructions, please visit our website, https://www.lciclubs.com/wsope.html .
On behalf of everyone on the WSOP Europe team, respectfully and with my best regards,
Jeffrey Pollack
Commissioner
