Not my cat!

Not my cat!

It's been a busy time in the Pudding household overt the past few weeks and as a result I have hardly played any poker. Moving into the new house, combined with work commitments have confined me to the sidelines.

When I got paid a week or so ago, we spent a large chunk carpeting the rest of the house, a necessary expense. As Mrs p and I rarely treat ourselves we decided to move into the 21st century and buy ourselves an early Christmas present in the shape of a HD-ready TV. The great new picture has also hindered my poker playing as my Xbox 360 now looks amazing and I have been glued to it playing Modern Warfare 2, which I just completed last night.

I mentioned previously that I had been suffering from a stomach bug well something else that has had stomach problems is the new addition to the Pudding family, George the Persian cat. Mrs P has been on at me for ages to get a kitten so as an early Christmas present to her, I decided to get one. My mum and dad have had a Persian for 12 years now and their nature appeals to me with them being uber-lazy, though a little bit of a pain to brush everyday.

They are even more of a pain to brush when they have the runs after changing their food from some stuff that costs a staggering £20 per 2kg to Go-Cat! The little toe rag went for a dump today and ended up with half of it stuck to its fur which it then decided to plaster everywhere it sat. So most of this morning was spent cleaning the coffee tables, carpet and TV stand of turd and then sat on the floor wiping the cat's ass with baby wipes! I must have done something wrong in a previous life!

On the poker front my bankroll stands at precisely zero. With the housing expenses and lack of time to play I decided that the money would be better off in my account then a poker site's. Doing this has also stopped me from playing tired or tilted or just for the sake of it.

The self-enforced break has allowed me to catch up on some much needed reading and poker video watching. One of the aspects of poker that I struggle with is the mental side of things. Dealing with variance is a massive problem for me and is probably the number one (if you take away the fact I am always withdrawing) reason I dwell at the stakes I do rather than playing at least mid-stakes.

I have started re-reading "Heads Up No Limit" by Collin Moshman as I am a winning player at HUSNG but feel a little rusty and I plan to re-read "The Poker Mindset" by Ian Taylor and Matthew Hilger as this book really helped me start to get my head around the mental side of poker. Finally, I have started watching / listening to a well respected series by Tommy Angelo called "The Eightfold Path to Poker Enlightenment" which essentially applies Buddhist theories to poker to allow you to play tiltless and always on your A-game. Hopefully all these combined will see a new Yorkshire Pudding heading for the tables in the next week or so.

I have gone through my poker finances too over the past week but I will go over them in the next entry as I am running out of time. Needless to say though I was shocked at my findings.

As always, thanks for reading and best of luck at the tables!
