EVERYONE loves a winner. And who knew you'd find one stacking the shelves at a supermarket?
Today's winner is 19-year-old university student Daniel Booth, playing his first live poker tourney. Mr Booth has won the inaugural Adelaide Holdem Championship at the Skycity Casino.
Mr Booth is the owner of $96,000, having won a seat at the table through a series of regional poker tournaments.
"I never dreamed I would win this tournament especially since I was up against so many of the world's best," says the newly enriched Mr Booth.
"I've only recently started playing poker and taking it seriously since the poker league started in Adelaide pubs and hotels in June of this year."
It's news to make you jump for joy and then sink to your knees asking a merciless God: "Why him! Why not me?! Are you out of lemons?"
