My Pot-limit Omaha experiment has been going pretty damn well, and I've so far logged around 5,000 hands and am showing a decent profit. However, I now have no records of my accomplishments after buggering up my Holdem Manager database.
The problems started last week when my desktop decided it would try and overheat and have the fan on constantly. Bloody thing sounded, and still sounds, like a jumbo jet taking off every five minutes. With that in mind I invested in a new laptop and decided to transfer my poker related stuff to my new machine.
I followed the FAQs to the letter and exported everything, emailed them to myself and deleted the programs off my old machine. But when I came to import the files on the laptop, a file had become corrupted rendering my database completely useless. Not impressed at all.
It could actually be for the best as it means I have lost all records of a silly session I played on Saturday night, after consuming a little too much special offer red wine! I'd lost three buy-ins at PLO $0.02/$0.05 so thought it would be a good idea to change my game for an hour or so and play some fixed limit Omaha hi/low. Instead of playing within my bankroll I jumped in at a $2/$4 table and proceeded to lose the majority of what I had one during the first part of the month!
A little cheesed off, I left the table and played some Seven Card Stud, a game that chills me out for some reason. I was sat at a $0.50/$1 table and after a few hands of folding I had a great starting hand of KsKcAs which turned into the nut straight by sixth street. I thought the guy I was heads-up with was a total fish as he was calling my bets and raises liberally but I nearly died of shock when I saw the pot ship to him when his hand was rags. I then realised I had been watching some Razz game earlier and sat at one of them instead of standard Seven card Stud. FML sums it up nicely.
So I am back to where I was at the start of the year, probably down $10 or so, so it is time to get back on the PLO horse and grind out some hands, push my big draws and hopefully progress how I was doing before my blip.
As always, thanks for reading and best of luck at the tables.
