I've not played much poker over the past week, instead I've been busy watching films on our new Blue-Ray player and playing on my beloved Xbox 360.

The main reason I've not played is basically down to the medication I'm currently taking. Not only is it used for depression but it is also used to treat Obsessive Compulsive Disorders (OCD) and I am thinking sometimes I played poker on impulse and because I was in a routine, rather than wanting to play.

I did play the biggest tournament I have for a while on Sunday though when I played the $55+$5 HOT! $12,000 Guaranteed tournament on Betfair Poker. The only reason I decided to play this was because I received an email from Betfair saying they would refund up to $50 of my tournament fees as a Christmas gift.

With this in mind I pad the $60 and sat down ready to play for the $3k+ first prize. However, any thoughts on winnng soon disappeared as I didn't get a playable hand for 16 hands and even then I had to fold my nines on a very wet flop facing action from two players.

Another ten hands later I found two black tens in the hole and managed to win a pot with a c-bet to take me back to my starting stack of 3,000. For the next 20 or so hands the best hand I saw was A5o in the big blind before losing a big portion of my stack with black kings on an As2s2c board.

This left me with around 10 big blinds, which I shoved in on the button with Ts7s and was called by the small blind holding a pair of sevens. By the turn the board read 5cKsAsJh giving me a flush draw and a gutshot but the 5d fell on the river to bust me 156 from 228. To make matters worse I misread the terms and conditions of the promotion and the tournament had to finish by 2359 on Sunday, not start so I didn't even get my $60 back! FML!

So onto my goals for 2010. I know I am known for starting something I never finish when it comes to poker but I honestly believe I am in a better place than I was in the past couple of years and I am now ready to actually play poker and try progress to decent stakes.

The first of my goals is to try and play my A-game as much as possible. I believe when I play my best I can hold my own in stakes several times what I play but the problem is I never play my best often enough.

Secondly, I want to learn Pot-limit Omaha but I first want a substantial bankroll to absorb some of the inevitable losses. I don't want to be sat grinding $0.01/$0.02 PLO as it is a waste of time so I will wait until I have rebuilt my bankroll to learn this crazy game.

Also, I am not going to change sites for at least three months as I have a habit of jumping around on different sites which can't help my game at all. The only reason I will be changing sites is if my rakeback deal expires or there is a massive bonus or promotion I want to take advantage of. I will not change simply because I am losing.

Finally, I am going to get involved in 2+2 more and start posting and discussing hands. I have always been a lurker on there and need to start posting more.

There are probably another five or six goals I am setting but they can wait as most relate to making +EV plays as often as I can, reading poker books, playing live more and stopping being results orientated. Hopefully 2010 can be a good year both poker and lifewise.

This is probably my last post before Christmas so I would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a healthy and profitable new year.

As always, thanks for reading and best of luck at the tables.
