News reaches the Casino Anorak that the UK Gambling Commission has decreed that offering seats in foreign poker tourneys is not OK.
The UK Gambling Commission said that gambling licence holders are barred from offering players seats in poker events that are located outside the Commission-approved white listed areas because it violates the Gambling Act of 2005.
Says a spokesman for the UK Gambling Commission: "Unless the overseas tournament is based in the European Economic Area, Gibraltar, or in white-listed jurisdictions, the advert is likely to amount to the advertising of "foreign gambling", which constitutes an offence under section 331 of the Gambling Act 2005."
The approved jurisdictions are deemed to have a "rigorous licensing regime designed to stop children gambling, protect vulnerable people, keep games fair and keep out crime" as specified by the 2005 Gambling Act.
