HERE at the Global Gaming Expo., Vegas, Terry Lanni, MGM Mirage's chairman and chief executive officer, says of online gambling: "We closed the operation down with the thought that we know what we're doing, and we're prepared to do it if and when it becomes legal here."
The firm created an Internet gaming site in 2001 on the sunny Isle of Man. But the site lost money. It shut.
Lanni and Gary Loveman, Harrah's Entertainment's chairman and CEO, are looking to the future. They believe that Internet poker will be legalised in the US sometime in the next two years.
Whoopy-do! UK poker fans can play online over here already on tried-and-tested systems.
Might it be that when the American casino operators can make money out online poker their Government will approve it?
