BEN Grundy is the Milky Bar Kid. And he's in town to dispense not sickly chocolate but youthful horse sense and to give us his view of the 2007 poker year.

In January, Ben lost a big chunk of his bankroll. As a result, he'll not be playing in January 2008.

Can Ben not play for an entire month? Anyone want to lay odds that he will play? Well, the MilkyBar Kid might not be playing in January 2008, but some of Ben's other aliases might.

Ben says that using a new moniker can be beneficial. With the other players not realising his true identity, they are less sure how to play him. Ben goes hard and enjoys what he calls a "rush" of wins before he is rumbled.

Back to the Grundy year in review and in July, things began to turn around for him. But it wasn't until August that he turned a profit, playing mostly Omaha.

It takes a decent bankroll and no little nerve to go eight months in the red. Perhaps this is why when it come to buying Grundy Towers, Ben finds that mortgage lenders are disinclined to throw money at a professional poker player.
