In a recent Marcus Bateman piece we saw what a huge effect pre flop initiative has in hold'em, and why it is critical to try and take as much momentum into the flop as possible.

Many hold'em players immediately assume that this is the right strategy for every genre of flop poker, but in other flop games, and particularly pot limit Omaha, this concept is a very different animal to the one it is in hold'em, and must be adjusted to accordingly.

I'm start off on a decent table with one good online player and Gavin Smith. I lose the first three pots I play and get down to about 170k. Then I make a really good value bet against Gavin with 88 on a 392T3 board and get paid off bringing me back up to around 220k.

Day 2 Niagara - Short-stack to top ten stack

After ending Day 1 with just 9,100 chips, I had a lot of work to do. With the blinds being 400/800 with antes, realistically, I have low expectations, but it is a fun stack to play, and I never give up! I was at a great table, with the only recognizable player being Joe Sebok who I had on my right.

Day 1 was uninteresting in the early levels. I played a solid game in the beginning and got up to 40,000 within the first hour by playing very standard. However, during the later levels of Day 1, there were some serious chip movements.
