NEVER let it go unsaid that Betfair does not advance poker whatever the colour, code or competition.

News filters through to us that Team Great Britain has trumped in the Poker Nations Cup.

The writer may confuse England with GB, but he is most likely American and therefore just happy in the knowledge that since the UK emerged from behind the Iron Curtain in 1066, we are playing poker, albeit with cards made from old ration books and nylon tights.

Captained by Rolande de Wolfe ("Beautiful British name" - Al Murray), Team GB beat Ireland in the final.

So bowler hats off to Neil Channing, Surinder Sunar, Joe Beevers, Ian Frazer, Charlie Durbin and the aforesaid Mr de Wolfe.
