I had just watched a video on Deuces Cracked so I decided to take what I had learnt to the Betfair $NL20 tables. These tables can be pretty weak, but there are a few regulars who you don't want to tangle with.
I loaded up two tables, $20 on each.
It started off well and was around $10 up within a few minutes.
And the tables were great - loads of players pushing all over the show.
But in these situations you need some cards - and I wasn't getting any.
At first I was quite patient.
My $10 went down to $5.
And I was still quite happy.
I'll bag a monster and double up.
My $5 went down to nothing.
Getting a bit annoyed now - some of the play is terrible - preflop pushes of 20 or 30 big blinds.
Still I can't grab a hand.
An hour went past - not a premium pair, a few AK's that were either uncontested or missed the flop, some drawing hands and a few mid pairs - but just couldn't hit a thing.
I was now around $20 down without losing any big showdowns - it was that bad - even worse for the fact that the people at the tables were awful.
My stress levels were pretty high by now - and I was getting close to tilting - and when I get to that stage I leave.
And then salvation!!!
A pair of Aces - which I managed to get all in pre-flop against AK.
And then on the very next hand, I had JJ, flopped a set and made another buy-in, cracking the AA of one player and the QQ of the player I had just stacked (made a very good putdown on the flop though).
An overall profit of $20.
Easy this game of poker!
